What to know before choosing Brigit
Research checked October 10, 2026. Qualifying terms, reporting and approval can vary.
Builder needs Premium
New Credit Builder is available with $15.99/month Premium, not the $8.99 Plus plan or free tools.
Savings contributions are separate
$1/month can refer to savings you set aside; it never means a $1 subscription. Loan proceeds stay restricted.
Instant Cash is not Credit Builder
An advance may help short-term cash flow, but does not furnish credit-building loan payments.
Affiliate note: AIOC has no approved tracked partner link for Brigit in the current authorized record. Links open the official provider. Product enrollment, credit improvement, loan terms and refunds are not guaranteed.
Who It May Be Best For
People who can afford Premium at $15.99/month plus their selected savings contributions, want a reported installment account over 24 months, and genuinely value Brigit's other financial and monitoring tools.
Who May Want Another Option
If your subscription budget is under $15.99/month, Plus is not an entry to the new Credit Builder. If you only need short-term cash, Instant Cash is a different service and will not build credit. If you already have positive installment history or need a general-use credit card, compare lower-cost or better-suited alternatives.
How It Works
Brigit's eligible Credit Builder users receive a bank-issued 24-month installment loan whose original proceeds stay in a restricted deposit account; the funds are not delivered as spendable cash. You select separate savings contributions while scheduled loan-payment history is reported. The $1/month marketed savings option is not the Premium subscription fee. You may be able to access saved contributions during the term under program rules.
Pricing and Fees
Free tier $0, Plus $8.99/month ($107.88 for 12 months), Premium $15.99/month ($191.88 for 12 months). New Credit Builder enrollment requires Premium. A 24-month Premium membership totals $383.76 at unchanged pricing BEFORE your own savings contributions. An illustrative $1/month savings contribution adds $24 saved over that term and $407.76 total outflow, not $407.76 accumulated savings. Advance express-delivery fees may apply under Plus, while eligible Premium express delivery is included. A separately advertised Line of Credit and its $15 monthly open-account fee are NOT included with Credit Builder.
Credit Bureau Reporting
Only Credit Builder loan payments are furnished to Experian, Equifax and TransUnion, typically around the first of each month. Bureau processing takes additional time. Instant Cash advances are not reported as credit-building loan payments; monitoring a report is not the same as furnishing. Brigit says unpaid installments may be reported delinquent after 30 days. Positive results are not guaranteed and installment activity does not directly reduce existing credit-card utilization.
Eligibility
Generally U.S. residents 18+ with a connected eligible checking account and identity verification; Credit Builder requires SSN and current Premium. Advance eligibility has additional criteria, including recent recurring deposits and active positive-balance checking history. State/product restrictions and feature approvals apply. Do not assume borrowing or amount approval from paying for membership.
Important Limitations
Upfront loan proceeds cannot be withdrawn as ordinary cash. Subscription fees are expenses, not saved funds. Missed builder payments can harm credit. Different account eligibility requirements apply to advances, monitoring and other features. Close the builder loan before downgrading/canceling membership and resolve loan balances. An arrears-billed final debit may follow cancellation. Support and identity coverage have specific limits; no guaranteed human live phone response.
Alternatives
Self offers a differently funded installment builder with an agreement-specific net release at completion. Kikoff has a lower-cost restricted-use revolving credit account. Kovo finances educational services instead of releasing principal. Chime Card uses your existing funded spending money and does not charge the basic card's routine monthly fee.
Final Summary
Brigit Credit Builder is a paid-bundle installment-history option—not a $1/month credit product and not Instant Cash. New users need $15.99/month Premium and separate affordable savings contributions; verify the 24-month commitment, state eligibility, reporting and cancellation implications before subscribing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I build credit with Brigit Plus at $8.99?
For new Credit Builder enrollments, no. The current requirement is Premium at $15.99/month. Some legacy Plus borrowers may retain existing builder accounts until their loan terms finish.
Does Brigit's $1/month claim mean the service only costs $1?
No. $1 is an example of your separate savings contribution. Premium is $15.99/month before that contribution and other possible fees.
Does Brigit Instant Cash improve my credit?
No. The short-term advance is separate from the Credit Builder loan and is not furnished as a credit-building account.
How long is the builder loan?
Brigit advertises a 24-payment month installment program. Your loan agreement controls principal, schedule and other terms.
What bureaus receive Brigit loan payments?
Experian, Equifax and TransUnion receive eligible Credit Builder loan reporting, generally monthly. No score increase or exact appearance date is promised.
Does canceling Brigit erase my builder loan?
No. Close or resolve the builder first, confirm subscription cancellation, and budget for any final arrears-billed membership payment.
