What to know before choosing Ava
Research checked October 10, 2026. Qualifying terms, reporting and approval can vary.
$5 is an annual-billing equivalent
Ava charges $60 upfront per year or $10 monthly. Other card spending and optional loan payments are separate.
Different reporting by product
Card and qualifying loan may report to all three bureaus; rent, utilities and mobile phone currently report to TransUnion only.
Restricted card; uncertain loan terms
A reported limit up to $2,500 is not unrestricted spending power. Savings-loan term/fee disclosures conflict; check your actual agreement.
Affiliate note: AIOC has no approved tracked partner link for Ava in the current authorized record. Links open the official provider. Product enrollment, credit improvement, loan terms and refunds are not guaranteed.
Who It May Be Best For
People who already have eligible regular subscription/utility/rent obligations, can reliably repay approved-merchant card purchases and afford $10 each month or $60 paid up front. Consider the products separately rather than assuming every membership benefit is automatically activated.
Who May Want Another Option
Not for unrestricted spending, emergency cash, guaranteed $2,500 purchasing access, or all-three-bureau rental furnishing. If you need Experian/Equifax rent reporting, look elsewhere. Consumers with unstable bank balances, credit balances to pay down or only one desired tool may be better served by a cheaper or free option.
How It Works
Membership offers eligible enrollment in a restricted-use credit-builder Mastercard charge card, a distinct Save & Build installment loan, and optional reporting for verified rent, utilities and mobile-phone bills. Card purchases are limited to approved merchants and a personalized Spend Limit, which can be far lower than a separately advertised reported credit limit. The card balance must be paid in full monthly. A qualifying loan may hold proceeds until repayment, with applicant-specific terms. Verified rent/bills may be added through linked bank transaction data.
Pricing and Fees
Membership costs $10/month ($120 over 12 monthly payments), or $60 charged upfront for one year ($5/month equivalent). These are billing options for one membership, not distinct benefit tiers. Card purchases are repaid separately. Public Save & Build pages conflict about 12-month/$300 versus 24-month/$600 principal, origination fees and payout, so no universal loan quotation is safe. Store ebooks/services are separately priced; not free membership benefits. Current public refund descriptions conflict, including a narrow reporting-specific guarantee requiring action on days 31–45 under terms.
Credit Bureau Reporting
Ava advertises card activity to Experian, Equifax and TransUnion, with initial submission six days after opening and monthly thereafter. Eligible savings-loan activity also goes to all three, with initial submission after three days. These are company submission schedules, not guaranteed first visible-report dates. Rent/utility/mobile-phone furnishing is currently to TransUnion ONLY, not all three. Eligible positive past payments may be considered up to 24 months, but actual verifiable history varies. Do not promise a model-specific utilization effect or score increase.
Eligibility
Age 18 or higher as required by state, identity verification, eligible U.S. residency, bank linkage through Plaid and approval for each credit product. Save & Build is available only in the states enumerated by Ava; consumer location and product restrictions apply. No universal income or bank-buffer threshold was established. Membership does not guarantee card, loan or rent verification.
Important Limitations
Card is restricted to approved merchants and personalized spend allowance, not guaranteed unrestricted credit. Membership may end while debts remain; deleting the app does not cancel the subscription. Card/loan delinquency can damage credit despite no separate late fee. Refund FAQ and Terms conflict; do not promise a free trial or automatic refund. Savings loan pricing, loan limit/account classification and ACH buffer rules remain unresolved. Plaid disconnections and balance checks may block purchases and repayments.
Alternatives
Chime Card uses funded spending with no routine card membership fee and requires Chime Checking. Kikoff plans start at $5/month with a tradeline for Kikoff products and services only. Self offers a separately disclosed savings-backed installment loan. Kovo finances services rather than releasing a traditional loan amount. For three-bureau rent reporting compare independently verified eligible dedicated reporters; Ava currently furnishes rent to TransUnion only.
Final Summary
Ava has multiple distinct tools under one $10-monthly/$60-prepaid-annual membership. It is not a free unrestricted $2,500 credit card. Credit card and approved savings-loan activity may reach all three bureaus, while current rent/bill reporting only reaches TransUnion. Confirm your own loan offer, bank/payment requirements and refund terms before taking on new obligations.
Pros

- Eligible card and separately approved loan reporting to all three bureaus
- Eligible rent/utility/phone payment furnishing to TransUnion

- $60 annual billing option may reduce membership expense if suitable
Cons
- $60 annual price is prepaid, not $5 monthly billing
- Credit card works only at approved merchants and within a small personalized Spend Limit
- Rent/utility/phone information only furnished to TransUnion currently
- Conflicting Save & Build loan pricing, terms and refund descriptions
- Linked-bank connection and repayment obligations can interrupt service
Frequently Asked Questions
How much is Ava?
Membership is $10 charged every month or $60 charged once annually, equivalent to $5 per month. Separate card purchases, loan costs or Store services may require additional money.
Does Ava report everything to three credit bureaus?
No. Card and qualifying loan activity are advertised as furnished to Experian, Equifax and TransUnion. Rent, utility and phone reporting currently goes to TransUnion only.
Does the $2,500 advertised limit mean I can spend $2,500 anywhere?
No. The reported limit is up to $2,500 subject to approval and separate from your personalized Spend Limit. The card operates at approved merchants, not unrestricted retailers.
Can I get my savings loan money immediately?
No. Loan proceeds are restricted and terms depend on a separate credit agreement. Public loan term and fee examples conflict; check the actual issued agreement before committing.
How soon does Ava show on my credit report?
Ava advertises submission days after eligible account opening, but bureau processing and monitor refresh vary. Neither visible reporting nor any score change on a fixed date is guaranteed.
Is the Ava subscription refundable if I cancel?
Public FAQ and Terms differ. A narrow reporting-related guarantee includes a days 31–45 claim window. Do not assume ordinary cancellation results in a refund or that closing a membership removes loan balances.
