DIY credit repair vs managed credit repair
You can repair credit-report errors yourself for free, or you can pay a service to handle the process. Each path has trade-offs.
DIY credit repair
You dispute inaccurate items directly with the credit bureaus. This costs nothing but requires your time to gather documents, file disputes, and follow up.
Managed credit repair
A service prepares and submits disputes and follows up on your behalf, often for a monthly fee. This can save time but does not change what can legally be removed.
Technology-assisted services
Some services use software to track disputes, suggest next steps, and monitor results. These can add convenience but still cannot remove accurate, verifiable information.
What neither can do
Neither approach can remove accurate, verifiable information before it ages off your report, and neither can guarantee a specific score increase.
Important note
Choose based on your time, budget, and comfort. Avoid any service that promises guaranteed results.
